چکیده

This paper describes a possible structure for the pamcrystalline form of the sodium salt of deoxyribonucleic acid. The structure consists of two DNA chains wound helically round a common axis, and held together by hydrogen bonds between specific pairs of bases. The assumptions made in deriving the structure are described, and co-ordinates are given for the principal atoms. The structure of the crystalline form is discussed briefly.

Effect of Helium-Neon Laser and Sodium Hypochlorite on Calf Thymus Double-Stranded Deoxyribonucleic Acid Molecule: An in Vitro Experimental Study

Introduction: Low-energy helium-neon (He-Ne) laser beam lightis used in combination with sodium hypochlorite (Na2HOCl3) for clinical purposes. Regarding this, the present study aimed to investigate the effect of He-Ne laser (632.8 nm) and sodium hypochlorite on the calf thymus double-stranded deoxyribonucleic acid (ctdsDNA) molecule.  Materials and Methods: For the purpose of the study, ctdsDNA...

Printed in Great Britain Ribonucleic Acid-Deoxyribonucleic Acid Hybridization as a Second-Order Reaction By

The formation of specific RNA-DNA hybrid molecules has been widely used to study relationships between RNA and DNA sequences. Although this reaction probably involves mechanisms similar to those of DNA renaturation, the analysis of its kinetics is more complicated because the relative concentrations of complementary RNA and DNA sequences are often unknown. Moreover during hybridization the DNA ...

Properties of F' factor deoxyribonucleic acid transferred from ultraviolet-irradiated donors: photoreactivation in the recipient and the influence of recA, recB, recC, and uvr genes.

Ultraviolet (UV)-irradiated Escherichia coli K-12 F lac(+) donors transfer damaged F' factors when mated with female cells. Exposure of the zygotes to white light after mating can cause the photoreactivation of the damaged transferred F' factors. In so far as the photoreactivation is specific for pyrimidine dimers, these experiments indicate the presence of UV-induced dimers in the transferred ...

Expression of an Innate Immune Element (Mouse Hepcidin-1) in Baculovirus Expression System and the Comparison of Its Function with Synthetic Human Hepcidin-25

Hepcidin is an innate immune element which decreases the iron absorption from diet and iron releasing from macrophage cell. In contrast to the chemical iron chelators, there has been limited effort applied to the specific use of hepcidin as a new drug for decreasing the iron overload. Hepcidin is produced in different biological systems. For instance, E-coli is used for human hepcidin expressio...
